South Milwaukee Blog

Tell your story, or it will be told for you. That is why I started South Milwaukee Blog. Building on my decade as a journalist, and recognizing that local media coverage was on the decline, I created the online South Milwaukee newspaper in 2009, sharing news and information — and a little commentary from my role as alderman and now mayor — about city government, police, fire, schools, sports and community events.

More than 10 years later, South Milwaukee Blog is nearing 2 million page views and 1,000 subscribers, behind thousands of posts.

This is the kind of innovative approach I will bring to you. Check it out here

Using video to tell stories of employee success, sales strategy and brand plans and programs — less than two minutes at a time, focused on mobile viewing and delivered for click-and-play viewing using a design-forward, mass marketing-style email platform. That was the rationale behind the launch of MCTV, a MillerCoors video platform delivered in partnership with John Roach Projects in 2014. Five years and nearly 1,000 videos later, the network is going strong and has evolved into a key platform to help the brewery sell more beer — an example of the kind of best practices I can bring to your business or organization.

Stadium Sales Rally

The challenge: Fire up more than 1,000 members of the MillerCoors sales and marketing teams ahead of our annual distributor convention, at the most unique of venues: a Major League Baseball stadium. My team and I hit a home run. A local veteran sang the National Anthem to kick off the meeting. The local sales team threw out first pitches to senior leaders. Presenters stood on the first-base dugout, sharing slides on the scoreboard. We handed out baseball cards detailing our award winners. The event ended with a party on the outfield grass.

It was a night to remember … an example of the type of gathering I can help deliver for you.

Innovative Ways to Give Back

Raising money for charity is all about strategic storytelling: ensuring the right messages are being shared with the right people in the right way at the right time to drive donations. That is why I was proud to bring my skills and experience to the MillerCoors United Way campaign. I was on the campus campaign committee for six years, and in that time we consistently led the company in contributions, raising millions of dollars. My role ranged from leading campaign communications to targeting major donors in unique ways to planning a large golf outing. Along the way, I learned a lot about successful fundraising strategies and best practices, which I’d love to put to work for you and your organization.

Miller History Center

Create a new home for the expansive Miller archives that better preserves the collection brings it back on campus, and converts an underutilized basement training center into a combination storage space and museum experience for employees and other stakeholders — all while saving money. Welcome to the Miller History Center, which opened in the fall of 2019. I was proud to lead this project, from vision to execution, as an innovative way to tell our history story. You probably have a similar story. How can we partner to tell it?
